Never Cry Mercy

As 2017 was drawing to a close, and the birth of my daughter, our second child, was nearing, I scrambled to record some music. Joined by Will Osler on drums and John Sperendi on bass, over three sessions we recorded nine, live in the studio compositions. John and Will learned six of these songs on the spot. Their contributions, focus and artistry elevated the music to a level that greatly superseded my expectations. And, as always, my expectations were high, so my admiration and gratitude for their efforts is immense.

But something was missing. Over the next three plus years I recorded five more ambient folk songs featuring electric guitar-harp, and electric six string cello, instruments I built as a young ambitious man. I added one called "Tear Down Tallahassee" on acoustic guitar to bring it all home, a tribute to the all too many shooting victims and survivors in this country. John Sperendi added bass on these tracks as well and again earned my thanks. In aggregate the result is 79 minutes of music, good for a road trip end to end or each track can stand with pride on its own, or at least I'm proud of them.
